Interesting or not... here I come

So, I've struggled with something for a while now - a reason to blog. Not that our lives aren't interesting to us, but it's definitely just about us right now. There are no children - no funny stories or pictures to show and tell. And I absolutely LOVE reading the blogs, hearing the stories and seeing the pictures of all of my family and friends! I just thought I would be boring people with my little ol' stories of us...

But then today I had this thought - I have all these reasons why not to do it, surely there is at least one reason to blog again. And I came up with this one tiny reason - I want to do it! So... here goes a new season of blogging.

It may be boring. It may be stupid or menial. It may be frivolous or crazy. It will definitely be random... but that's our life! And I love it.

changes

A wedding, a honeymoon, a media conference, emergency surgery, and a new home... it's amazing how so many things can happen in just a short amount of time. Thankfully, they all happened back to back and not all at the same time!

After a beautiful time on our honeymoon, we got back and immediately began having the best time settling into our apartment. Shortly after, I had an incredible opportunity to attend Echo Media Conference with the media team from Praise. It was incredible to be surrounded by hundreds of other "creatives" in one place at one time. I came away with more information than I knew my head could hold.

In the wee hours of the morning on August 1st, I woke up out of dead sleep in severe pain in my chest and abdomen. By the time we got to the hospital it was worse than before and within an hour, they had scheduled emergency surgery (on a Sunday) and had called the surgeons on call. After surgery, I spent 2 days in the hospital recovering. I am so blessed with the most amazing husband who took immaculate care of me during my recovery. And my mom and sister-in-law were so gracious to help "courtney-sit" me when my mister had to work. Now, almost 6 weeks later, I am almost fully recovered. I still can't lift heavy things, but other than that, I'm just about back to normal!

While we have really enjoyed this season settling into our apartment in Lumberton, we have been looking to buy a home for quite some time, however timing is everything. And our timing has finally arrived. We are simply waiting on closing on our new home. It's a beautiful home in lovely new construction area of Lumberton. It's the perfect place for the Miller's.

That's really it for now... work and family is wonderful as always! Here's a few pictures of our new home.

i'm told wedding planning is a lot of work, takes a lot of time and is worth every moment! and i definitely agree...

i haven't written much lately due to the overwhelming amount of work and wedding planning that is currently on my plate (some of which is definitely self-induced). but life is amazing. jason and i are very excited about our upcoming "forever" day on may 22nd of this year. with just a few months left, most of the details are done - now we just wait.

the dress is on order, the tuxes are rented, the flower girls are ecstatic and can't wait to wear their pretty dresses, the cake has been selected, the reservations have been made, the photographer has been selected... we are on a roll. and now we just wait.

and while we wait, there are just a few thousand other details to tend to.

in the mean time we've had fun registering - all i can say is "wow!" and i can assure you that the "beattles" items that are on the registry all happened when the scanner was in his hand!! it was fun and an evening i will not quickly forget.

i'm happy... ridiculously happy. and i'll try to channel my happiness to blogging a bit more often.

a random journal entry

today, jason and i shared our very first Christmas memories together... they could not be more perfectly wonderful.

i am sitting on the couch right now doing a little bit of wedding planning before we attempt to shop for a few last minute things we want to grab before our crazy family festivities that start tomorrow. while i'm sitting here, i decided to go look at some old journal entries looking for a specific date and ran across my first journal entry about jason and thought you might enjoy it as much as i did.

my surprise was... forever

Jason tells me everyday that he has a surprise for me (he knows how much I LOVE surprises)... and I do mean everyday! Some days it's simply a kiss on my nose. Others is my favorite vitamin water or one of my favorite snacks. From home decor to clothes and trips to my favorite store or restaurants... it's always a surprise (sometimes he refers to them as "treats").

This particular evening (the 20th) we were celebrating Kaitlyn's birthday party and he leaned over and sweetly told me he had a surprise for me. I played along as always and asked the usual questions "How big is it?" and his response was "smaller than a bread basket and bigger than a flea". I was a little thrown off by this response, but then we began talking about allergy meds that I needed help remembering to bring with me on my trip to Dallas the next day. We continued joking around about him buying me a box of Alavert. I naturally assumed that he would be giving me a box of Alavert as my sweet surprise.

Early the next morning (the 21st) before my departure to Dallas for work, I was surprised with a little white ring box and it was definitely not the Alavert I was expecting... to say that I was surprised is an understatement!

In his sweet, boyish way, he asked me to spend forever with him for which I smiled bigger than my face had ever known and said "yes... forever."

It was a very sacred and sentimental moment for both of us that I'm sure we will never forget. Now every single time he tells me he has a surprise for me (which hasn't stopped by the way), I relive that precious moment in time. He gave me forever as my surprise.

We desired to have both our parents' blessing over our marriage and life together. We called my parents that morning and met his parents for breakfast before I left town (which I don't recommend for a newly engaged couple - going out of town that quickly was very difficult, but made coming home that much sweeter). We received all of their blessing and congratulations and then set out to call our siblings and extended families. We waited just a bit to tell the rest of the world in order to make sure our families were all "in the know".

Needless to say we celebrated a lot that weekend and I'm still in the "happiest girl alive" mode.

THE RING: Jason and I spoke about marriage several months before this and on October 5th confirmed during a very special and memorable conversation about our future, that we would take the next step soon, but I was sure he was waiting til Christmas. We went and looked at rings and talked about dates. And of course, like every little girl my heart's mind knew what style of ring I wished for - white gold, square setting, vintage style, round diamond(s)... AND THAT is exactly what he gave to me. The ring is more than beautiful and expresses me (and him) in such a special way. He took such great care to get me exactly what my heart desired. It's perfectly exquisite.

We are so excited to start our forever on May 22, 2010...

This is our new blog spot and where we will keep you posted on our new, wonderful journey of life together.
